Capcom, the fellas behind Resident Evil, Dead Rising etc have turned their attention to space, where no one can hear you boo-hoo. Lost Planet is a massive 3rd-person shooter fighting bugs on an arctic planet – sort of John Carpenter's The Thing meets Starship Troopers. The bugs, or 'Akrid', look awesome, and there's plenty of variety to shoot up with a massive range of weaponry. Everything from shotguns to gatling guns can be used to splat the oversized insects, and you can climb into and ride mechanized suits which can fly and are loaded up with seriously destructive hardware. The multiplayer is awesome too, especially across Xbox Live where you can play with up to 16 players, with cooperative mission play, deathmatch and capture the flag. The first great game of 2007, believe.
