The footie season may be at an end with no summer tournaments to fill the long empty months, but here's something that might just make you feel better. Yup, it's Mario. Yup, it's 'soccer' – with turtles and stuff. But, by God it's a laff. Featuring the usual cast of Mario heroes and villains, tearing round a kartoon-krazy stadium and all with their own unique power moves, it has all the fun elements of something like Wii Sports combined with the mindless mayhem of the Mario games. But, above and beyond that, it's also – weirdly - a good footie game. Involving a fair bit more tactics than its GameCube predecessor, Charged Football will actually have you taking it seriously as you face off against mates in your own living room, or multiplaying online. This one's not just for kids, believe. And it's a nice change from all those 'proper', serious footie games and management sims out there.
