The cult 1979 film about a New York gang having to fight their way home through rival gangs territories made for a great PS2 beat-em-up adventure back in 2005. Now Rockstar, the fellas behind the GTA series, ultra-violent Manhunt and school bully-basher Canis Canem Edit, have brought their game to the PSP. It's a perfect format for it too. The gameplay is simple, brutal, and faithful to the movie. Your (homoerotically dressed) Warriors all are faithfully captured from the film, as are the rival gangs including the Rogues, the Riffs, the Baseball Furies Punks, Lizzies and Jones Street Boys. The fighting system works well, particularly against multiple enemies, and you've got a good set of moves and plenty of weapons you can pick up and use. All the action is set at night in the dark, bad neighbourhoods of NYC, as you try to guide your Warriors back to Coney Island. Graffitiing the Warriors tag is a big part of the game, as is nicking car stereos and generally trashing stuff. Simple, mindless, yet utterly cool and brilliant fun.
