This is the latest and best yet of the long-running squad-based game series from Tom Clancy, the bloke who wrote Patriot Games and Hunt For Red October, plus the Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon games. This time, terrorists have taken over some Las Vegas casinos, and it's up to you and your counter-terrorism squad to save the hostages and Nevada's tourist industry.
You won't be surprised by the gist of the game, but this time it looks ace and the squad AI has been considerably improved. You can also take cover more effectively while you heal, and the squad command system has been simplified to give it a much more intuitive feel. The game is also less linear than its predecessors, and there's plenty of realism in the blood-splattering and glass shattering (shooting fruities and listening to the coins fall out is a small but satisfying thrill). It supports up to 4 players over Xbox Live, with 10 multiplayer maps and the ability to customize the finest details of your squad. With an Xbox Live camera you can even map your own face onto the characters. Though when Loaded tried it, writer Jeff's ethnicity changed radically. Still, we love this game.
